This morning Matt and the kids ran the local 5K race. Well, actually Matt and Merete ran the full 5K, and Finn did the kids 1 mile run. I watched and cheered from the sideline. It was a perfect race day: overcast and in the upper 50s.
Merete ran the race last year with me, and this year she did it with her best friend, Emily. Here they are crossing the finish line:
They did well - their time was around 40 minutes, but I don't remember it exactly.

After the 5K finished, it was time for Finn to run his 1 mile. Matt ran it with him. There were LOTS of kids and when they all started running it was a bit of mayhem. Nearing the finish line, Finn looked super tired. Then he saw us cheering for him and he turned on the Finn after-burner and ran like crazy. He's convinced he was the fastest kindergartner. They didn't do times, but he's pretty sure he beat everyone he knows - including Matt who was behind him.
